Bosc pears are a medium to large sized tree fruit with a thick golden tan skin that is covered in brown russeting. Inside these pears have an ivory to off-white flesh that is firm, and crisp with a central, soft core holding small black seeds. Bosc pears are a good source of vitamin C, calcium, potassium, and dietary fiber. While most commonly eaten raw and out of hand, they also work well in cooked applications like baking, broiling, or poaching. Bosc Pears should be kept at room temperature until ripe and can hold up to an additional week when stored in the refrigerator.
