Sweet and Sour Red Cabbage: Recipe

Ingredients:

  • 1 medium red cabbage, thinly sliced
  • 1 large onion, finely chopped
  • 2 apples, peeled, cored, and chopped
  • 1/4 cup apple cider vinegar
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions:

  1. Melt the butter in a large pot over medium heat. Add the onion and sauté until translucent.
  2. Add the red cabbage and apples to the pot, stirring to combine.
  3. Stir in the apple cider vinegar, sugar, and water. Season with salt and pepper.
  4. Cover and simmer on low heat for about 1 hour or until the cabbage is tender and the flavors have melded. Stir occasionally and add more water if necessary.
  5. Adjust seasoning if needed and serve warm as a side dish.
